Go2WOOD

A prototype promoting the use of wood as a sustainable material in the construction and building industry.
A prototype promoting the use of wood as a sustainable material in the construction and building industry.
What: Go2WOOD is an umbrella corporation working to encourage the use of wood as a building material in the construction and design industries. Go2WOOD covers a range of initiatives that collaborates with national and international actors from the construction industry, to support the direct usage of sustainable wood in actual construction projects.

How: The following prototype initiatives have been launched so far:

  • High-rise made from wood in Denmark
  • Partnership with selected stakeholders
  • Production of the Go2WOOD compendium

Role: Chora Connection has facilitated processes leading to the development of several Go2WOOD initiatives during the period 2016-2017.

Results: During autumn 2016 Chora Connection gathered the construction industry, the design- and architect industry, the foresting industry and more, at a large, international conference at KADK in Copenhagen, to develop new prototypes for the sustainable construction industry.

Besides workshops, panel debates and talks on design, construction, wood, sustainability and more, the Canadian architect Michael Green was one of the keynote speakers.

The conference resulted in the “Go2WOOD manifesto” addressing key issues and problems in the development of a sustainable building industry, including how wood can be used as a sustainable source of material.

The results from Go2WOOD have been used for advanced research internationally at higher learning institutions. The knock-on effect can be traced throughout the entire value chain of the wood industry.

In 2017 Chora Connection published the “Go2WOOD Compendium”, a book covering all aspects, knowledge, findings, and research relating to the Go2WOOD prototype. The compendium was released for sales in September 2017 and can be purchased by contacting:

About the Go2WOOD Compendium:

“When reading the compendium, it can no longer be disputed that the sustainability of wood can help curb CO2 emissions, nor can the importance that forestry has had for the wealth of our Nordic countries.”
 – Jonas Rönnberg, Ass. Professor and Vice-Dean,
University of Agricultural Sciences, SE, Go2WOOD Compendium
