What: A prototype of a local association, distributing excess food donated by supermarkets, reducing food waste and offering lower prices for local citizens. ‘Foreningen Ringgaard hjælper dig‘ (‘The Ringgaard association helps you’) is located in Vojens, Southern Jutland, and is founded and driven by Kristian Ringgaard with significant help from volunteers.

The mission of ‘Foreningen Ringgaard hjælper dig’ is to:

How: The association was founded by Kristian Ringgård in 2016 and has since facilitated a food market in an old barn while hosting social events for the local community. The association is members based. As a member, you can fill two shopping bags three times a week for 25 DKK.

The vision is to further develop the barn with improved equipment suited for food storage while strengthening the community and the social aspect of the project. For this purpose, the association received funding from Realdania’s underværker.

Role: Chora Connection has helped ‘Foreningen Ringgaard hjælper dig’ with strategic development and funding in the period autumn 2017-April 2018, allocating two project leaders for the prototype.

Status: ‘Foreningen Ringgaard hjælper dig’ has received funding from Realdania’s underværker and is now preparing to implement the vision of expanding the market store, organizing and mobilizing volunteers and further strengthen the relations to the local community and municipality.
