In October 2016, 25 asylum seekers started a 6-week course, where they will share the task of building knowledge and insight into sustainable local communities, foodstuff systems and social entrepreneurship.
The purpose is to prepare the participants to take an active part in the transition to a sustainable and resilient society.
The course introduces the participants to four dimensions of sustainability: the social, economic, ecological and cultural dimension, and combines theory with practical activities in the surrounding nature.
The course is repeated in the spring 2017. The collaboration is a concrete solution to one of society’s greatest problems: The refugee crisis. Each day, thousands of people are forced to leave their homes, because of war, climate changes and poverty. The big flow of refugees is a result of a range of global crises.
As a society, we can choose to view the current situation as an opportunity. We can choose to view refugees, neither as a burden nor as victims, but as part of the solution to the problems we face. Chora Connection looks forward to cooperating with Gaia Education as facilitators and Danish Red Cross as host. The course is funded by the Danish foreign Office.
